This piece was composed for Joe Annicchiarico, a gifted bass player and highly curious musician, then an undergraduate student at the University of New Hampshire. Two things are happening in this piece: an extended scordatura exploration of bass harmonics; a motley crew of other instruments occasionally chiming in, rhythmically independent. When learning the piece Joe rightly noted a distant relationship with Jaco Pastorius’s “Portrait of Tracy.”
