Like Eight Very Short Pieces for Orchestra and a few other examples, a rare post-2004 titled composition. Somewhat sui generis, this piece has so many things most of my music does not: meter, form, “traditional” (if extended) harmony, etc. As much as anything, it could be seen as a distant appreciation of two composers not generally linked with my music: George Gershwin and Olivier Messiaen.
