The instrumentation reflects the resources available for the occasion. I myself played the recorder and sang. Like Wedding Music (2007), the processional comprises a “vamp” to be followed by special music for the procession of the bride. Also like that later occasional composition, the recessional is outgoing and “folky.” This particular recessional, written to accompany the sounds of wind and waves, sometimes adds to the “musical din” with polyrhythms and polytonality. An overflow, in a sense, of celebration.
